How Can We Live In God’s Plan?

For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

Jeremiah 29:11-

Dear Friends, All of us have ambitions and desires of living a good life. We always aim for the best plans for us and our children. However, there is one thing we need to keep in mind. There will always be two choices for our plans and purposes. God’s plan for our welfare and well being and the devil’s plan for our downfall. We all wish for plans for our good right? So, we need to be in God’s plan which is always for our good. It may not seem good to us all the time, but we need to trust that whatever God has in store for us, He will ultimately work out everything that happens in our life, for our good. His ways are higher than our ways and His thoughts wiser than ours.  So, we need to rest in His infinite wisdom and wait for His plan to unfold in our lives.

There are few ways in which we can keep ourselves in God’s plan.

Be Familiar With God’s Voice

(John 10:3-4 )-The gatekeeper opens the gate for him, and the sheep listen to his voice. He calls his own sheep by name and leads them out.  When he has brought out all his own, he goes on ahead of them, and his sheep follow him because they know his voice.

There are many voices inside our mind suggesting advises, decisions, opinions etc. We need to discern the voice of God amongst these. Listening to the wrong voice, will cause us to make the wrong choices leading to anxiety, depression, fear, and confusion. In order to discern God’s voice, we need to spend time with Him in His word, praying daily, listening to His teachings, and letting our hearts be in tune with His. Even when we are driving or at our work place, we can pause in between and thank and praise Him, so our feelings and emotions will be in tune with Him. Then, we will become familiar to His gentle whisper in us leading us to the right choices.

Be Familiar With The Word Of God

(Colossians 3:16)  Let the message of Christ dwell among you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom through psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit, singing to God with gratitude in your hearts

When we read the Bible daily and consistently, we come familiar with His words, His teachings, the way He thinks and His desires and purposes for our life. Then, we will be able to live each day, directing our thoughts and decisions to be aligned to His will, because we know what will be pleasing to Him.

Be Watchful In Prayer

(1Thessalonians 5:17-18) Pray continually,  give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.

Prayer should be our first resort in all circumstances. We need to pray consistently for the will and plan of God to work in our lives. We know God knows everything even if we do not bring it to Him in prayer. But prayer is the channel through which He is able to manifest Himself and respond to our needs.

Be Humble

(Psalms 25:9) He guides the humble in what is right and teaches them his way.

We need to be humble and submit to His will. We might have our own plans and desires for ourselves and for our children. But, we need to be humble and accept if our plans do not work out as we desire and submit to  God’s leading in our lives, trusting that even if it does not seem desirable at the outset, God knows best and His plans are for our good.

Focus on God

(1 Peter 4:11) If anyone speaks, they should do so as one who speaks the very words of God. If anyone serves, they should do so with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ. To him be the glory and the power for ever and ever. Amen

Let us give glory to God for all His blessings. There will be difficult seasons in our life but let us not forget His blessings. When we face difficulties, let us take our mind away from our problems and surrender it to Him. Give Him all the glory, honour and praise for all His faithfulness in the past and trust Him to be faithful again.  Thank and praise Him at all times because He loves and cares for us.

Dear friends, let us strive to keep ourselves in the plan of God. Let us not hurry and choose our own way which might seem good and right in the beginning.  Let us pray about every thing and seek His will in our lives. Ultimately, God’s purpose is for us to be transformed to His character. Being in His will, and in His plan, he will mold us and change us to reflect His glory through our lives.
