Lent Season - Having The Mind Of Christ

Romans 12:2 - And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of Go d . During this lent season, many of us discipline ourselves in different ways to have a closer walk with God.   Some of us abstain from non vegetarian food, or our favourite delicacies, some keep themselves away from social media, or other forms of entertainment. We try in different ways to deny ourselves, as a form of discipline to have a closer walk with God. How do we have an intimate relationship with God? If we say we are close to someone and know them personally, we intend to mean that we know their character, their likes and dislikes, the way they think and speak. In the same way, if we have the desire to grow close to God, we need to know His character, His mind. Our way of thinking has to be transformed by the renewing of our mind to align according to the perfect ...

Hindrances For Effective Prayers

Dear Friends, we know we have a loving, merciful and compassionate Father in heaven who longs to have a close relationship with us. Prayer is the channel of communication between God and mankind. All of us long for our prayers to be answered. Jesus has promised us in John 14:14 – If you ask anything in my name I will do it.  However, we know sometimes though we pray sincerely and fervently, our prayers are not answered.  I came to understand through a message I heard recently, the most important hindrances for our prayers to be effective. I would like to share them with you, so that we can overcome and put away these blocks from our life. Cherishing sin – Psalms 66:18 If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear . If we have committed any sin, we need to confess and repent before we start praying, for God to hear our prayers. Lack of faith  – Mathew 21:22, 1 John 5:14.15 And whatever things you ask in prayer, believe and you will receive. Now this is th...

Victory Over Our Thoughts

Dear Friends, in this world, there is always a spiritual struggle within us, a tug of war between good and evil.  This spiritual warfare will cease only when we reach eternity.  Meanwhile, during our life here, how do we gain victory over the evil nature that rises up within us? Our actions originate from the thoughts that develop in our mind, which is not within our control. But it is within our control to decide what to do when these thoughts arise. I recently heard a message from a Christian teacher about how to win over thoughts which hinder us from leading a victorious Christian life. I would like to share them with you, so that all of us can learn some important truths about our thought life. Below mentioned are some of the most common thoughts which disturb our peace and the antidote for them from God’s word. Sinful thoughts – Meditate on 1 Corinthians 10:13 No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not ...

Real Message of Christmas

December is the season of celebration for Christians all over the world. We put in a lot of effort to prepare for Christmas. We decorate our homes with Christmas trees, lights and stars, we exchange gifts, and prepare special food and delicacies.   During Christmas programs in our churches, Christmas Father appears spreading laughter and distributing sweets to children. In some other parts of the world like Europe and America, there is also the myth of Santa Claus coming on Christmas to fill stockings with gifts for children. Recently I heard a story where, when a child was asked about the importance of Christmas, he came up with a very apt answer:   Christmas was the birthday of Santa Claus!! ...

A Christ Centered Generation

" Children are a heritage from the Lord, and the fruit of the womb is His reward”( Psalms 127:3). A family is never complete without a child. We are happy and thankful when God blesses us with children. However we need to remember that raising a child is a very serious responsibility. God entrusts us with the life of a child to raise him or her to ultimately become a child of God. We are caretakers for the children God grants us. We are expected to care and nourish them physically and spiritually as per God’s will and commandments. We have a responsibility towards God to bring up our children to know, love and obey their heavenly Father. Today more than ever, we need a Christ centered generation....

The Way To Eternal Life

“ Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth and the life, no man cometh unto the Father, but by me ” John 14:6 Dear Friends, most of us ponder sometime or the other about what happens to us after our life here on earth? Do we just return to dust or is there any other life beyond?  Most beliefs proclaim life after death, but in different ways. Religions also affirm that there is reward or punishment after death – some believe in re-incarnation, and some in heaven or hell. Whatever may be our different convictions, most of us believe that if we live a good life here on earth, following the common principles of goodness, we will have rewards after our death, if not punishment.  I  also, a born and brought up Christian, believed till 3 years back, that all people irrespective of their religion, who lives as a good human being, living a truthful and honorable life would go to heaven. But dear friends, as I came closer to God, and understood the significance of the g...

How Can We Live In God’s Plan?

For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the  Lord , “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future . Jeremiah 29:11- Dear Friends, All of us have ambitions and desires of living a good life. We always aim for the best plans for us and our children. However, there is one thing we need to keep in mind. There will always be two choices for our plans and purposes. God’s plan for our welfare and well being and the devil’s plan for our downfall. We all wish for plans for our good right? So, we need to be in God’s plan which is always for our good. It may not seem good to us all the time, but we need to trust that whatever God has in store for us, He will ultimately work out everything that happens in our life, for our good. His ways are higher than our ways and His thoughts wiser than ours.   So, we need to rest in His infinite wisdom and wait for His plan to unfold in our lives. There are few ways in which we can keep ou...
